Bay Area Book Festival canceled in response to coronavirus fears

Our client Bay Area Book Festival's 2020 event was canceled in response to the rapidly escalating coronavirus outbreak, and the San Francisco Chronicle's Datebook covered the decision.

The cancellation came just weeks before the festival's scheduled dates, and organizers were candid in the piece about how painful the call was, both financially and emotionally, for an event built entirely around bringing people physically together. Coming so early in the pandemic, before most large public gatherings nationwide had been called off, the decision reflected a level of caution that would soon become standard across the events industry, but at the time meant walking away from a year of planning with no clear picture of what would come next.
