The age of 80 is just a pinch beyond our latest life expectancy. But not everyone is so fortunate. A spouse dies, and then what happens to the surviving partner?
Folks in long-term, happy marriages experience “ties that bind” but in very positive ways. Suddenly, without that partner, who is there to offer that little sign of affection (a tender touch on the shoulder) or the occasional “I love you”? Who is there to thank for straightening up your mess? Or to thank you for your simple, but thoughtful, helping hand?
